Official: Chiefs Announce Next Player Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have announced the exit of Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.

Bimenyimana, 25, was informed before the end of last season that he would be able to leave the club after his first season, as reported by iDiski Times.

Despite being the club’s top scorer with eight goals in 21 games, Chiefs felt he didn’t fit their game plan and would be willing to sell him in order to free up a foreign quota spot.

The club have now announced his departure on Wednesday.

“Kaizer Chiefs have come to an agreement with striker, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana to part ways after one season,” read the statement.

“He featured 21 times for Chiefs (17 starts + 4 subs) and found the back of the net 8 times.

“He will be free to join a team of his choice and we wish him well in his future.”

There were loan enquiries in the DStv Premiership, Ukraine and a concrete offer arriving from the Ekstraklasa in Poland – with Europe being his preferred next move but nothing materialised.

He came close to joining Moroccan giants Wydad AC but the move failed in the last minute after Bimenyimana had already traveled to Morocco.
