Official: Burnley Sign Foster – iDiski Times
Burnley have announced the signing of Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster in what many believe is a new South African record transfer.
Foster, 22, has had a great breakthrough campaign in the Belgian Pro League so far, scoring eight goals and setting up four more across 21 appearances in all competition.
He only completed a permanent move to Westerlo ahead of the 2022/23 season after impressing on loan from Guimarares last season, when he helped them gain promotion.
His superb form and talent haven’t gone unnoticed, as Burnley coach Vincent Kompany was seemingly desperate to add him to his squad before the end of the January transfer window.
Today, the Clarets announced the arrival of the Bafana striker, who signed a massive four-and-a-half year contract.
“I’m very happy to be here, I’m blessed and thankful for the opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started,” Foster told his new club.
“From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and my head were set on the club. I’m so happy to be here now. It’s a dream for me.”
Burnley signed Foster for an undisclosed fee believed to be around €7 million, while could rise to €10 million based on add-ons, making him the most expensive player in South African history.
