Golden Arrows have confirmed the signing of Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo on a free transfer, as previously reported by iDiski Times.

The 28-year-old was released by Marumo Gallants following the arrival of coach Dan Malesela at the Limpopo outfit, despite featuring in seven league matches for Gallants this season, with his last appearance coming against Chippa United in September.

On Monday, Arrows confirmed the deal for the centre-back, as reported by this publication earlier this month already.

“We are delighted to confirm the signing of Central Defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo to the Green & Gold Army. Sthende Nation let’s welcome him to the family,” the club said via a statement.

In Hlatshwayo, Arrows are finally replacing Nkosinathi Sibisi at the back, who left during the off season to join Orlando Pirates.

They didn’t replace him then, and it showed when the season started, losing the first two matches of the campaign. They were at the bottom of the table and the pressure was mounting on co-coaches Vusi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyenza.

They have since climbed up the ladder to eighth with 16 points after 13 matches, ending the first round of the season with a 2-0 victory over provincial rivals Maritzburg United on 28 October.

Hlatshwayo will add some more stability to their side after they conceded 15 goals in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign so far.
