Swallows interim coach Musa Nyatama has confirmed that Keegan Allan “is fine” after two ambulances were rushed onto the pitch when he collapsed, before thanking the match officials and Kaizer Chiefs players for their urgency and support.
Allan suffered a late blow to his chin when Dillan Solomons accidentally hit him in the face with his elbow. While it initially looked like Allan was ready to get up, he collapsed back to the ground and needed urgent medical attention.
Referee Cedric Muvhali rushed to get an oxygen bottle to helped the defender, while players from both teams formed an initial circle around him, with Chiefs’ medical team assisting their colleagues from Swallows, while two ambulances were also rushed onto the pitch.
Luckily, after a few tense minutes, Allan was actually able to get up and walk off the pitch with the assistance of two officials and Nyatama confirmed after the match that the player is stable.
“He’s fine, I think he’s fine,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about Allan’s condition.
“I think it’s just a concussion from him. I think he collided with one of the players but I just hope he recovers soon. But I could see him now, I think he’s fine.
“The doctors are taking care of him.”
Nyatama also thanks Chiefs players and medical team as well as the referees for their urgent intervention to help Allan’s situation.
“It’s very good coming from our colleagues. You could see how everyone was just urgent to go and help the player,” he added.
“The life of a player is very important, more than the game. His life is more important than anything. We can lose the three points but his life is more important.
“You could see from our colleagues they were trying to help him. Everyone was just rushing to get the oxygen and everything.
“We say thank you to them, because as much as they are losing the match in that moment, you could see that the boy is lifeless, so we needed to help him.”
