With Kaizer Chiefs set for a major squad overall to build a new team and lower the average age, eight or nine players could be leaving Naturena in the upcoming window.
iDiski Times has learnt that there could be several players leaving the club as the Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior starts to stamp his authority on the player recruitment side at the club.
At the end of this season, as Chiefs move towards building a new team and undergoing the overhaul that Motaung Junior spoke about recently, most of the players, whose contracts are coming to an end will not be renewed.
It’s a list which includes a couple of foreign players, which would also free some of the much needed foreign space at the club.Topping the list of those who could face the chop is Samir Nurkovic, with reports in local media claiming he already agreed to join Royal AM.
Nurkovic joined Amakhosi in 2019 and has since made 78 appearances for the club. He was already linked with an exit during the last off-season window but an ongoing knee issues is understood to have prevented a move to Al Ahly, who are also still believed to be interested in his services.
But Nurkovic is just the tip of the iceberg regarding player exits and you can read about which other names are on the list in our digital version of the iDiski Timesnewspaper. In addition, players who have not been playing since Zwane and his assistant Dillon Sheppard took over from Stuart Baxter, are also in danger of getting the chop.
Whatever happens, the management at Amakhosi faces a huge task of strengthening their squad with more quality players once they have released those who are leaving.
