As SurgeZirc SA previously reported, AKA and Nadia Nakai’s relationship is now Instagram official. However, not everyone is happy about it. Many fans have reminded South Africans of AKA’s former fiancée, Nelli Tembe, who died less than a year ago.
Nelli allegedly took her own life in April 2021 after jumping off the balcony of a Cape Town hotel. Ntsiki Mazwai is one of those tweeps who is criticizing the rapper for moving on too quick.
Ntsiki reacted to AKA and Nadia Nakai’s official announcement in a since-deleted tweet on Saturday, 5 March. In it, she expressed her feelings about the rapper’s decision to move on just months after his fiance’s death.
“At the funeral, Neli’s siblings had to walk BEHIND the Forbes family. Barely six months had passed and how quickly their little sister was replaced…After they couldn’t walk beside her coffin. This is so deeply disturbing for me”.
She didn’t stop there, she went on to say: “I have siblings, I remember how I found that moment INCREDIBLY WRONG. Ego was placed over genuine love.”
To ruffle the feathers further Ntsiki vowed to keep Nelli’s memory alive. “I remember Neli Tembe. I will not erase her.” She then concluded by asking why the family insisted that Nellie’s death wasn’t suicide. “One day someone needs to explain why the family said Nelli didn’t commit suicide….”
