Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has responded to the remarks made by his counterpart Morgan Mammila that Amakhosi were lucky to get a draw against Chippa United.

The Soweto giants and Chippa United shared the spoils [0-0] in their DStv Premiership opener at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.

Ntseki was taking charge of Chiefs for the first time since his surprise appointment last month. He was up against Mammila, who recently returned to the Chilli Boys from Moroka Swallows.

Chiefs and Chippa failed to collect maximum points in their first match of the season. Chippa are ninth in the Premiership log table while Amakhosi are at position 10.

During a post-match media briefing, Mammila pointed out that his team was better than Chiefs.

“They were lucky to get a point. I am sorry to say this, but they were lucky to get a point today. We created so many chances, and we should have buried them,” he said.

During the same media briefing, Ntseki differed from Mammila and suggested that he had a different overview of the match.

“Maybe he understands the game differently,” said Ntseki. “It was a game of two teams competing to win the game. Both teams created chances, and both teams were under siege in certain stages of the game.

“I am not going to speak on behalf of the other coach of the other team. Our team did well defensively, like I said, offensively we can do better in converting the chances and creating more chances,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs will shift their focus to the clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday. Chippa United, on the other hand, will be at home to TS Galaxy, who started the season with a win over Cape Town Spurs.
