Ntseki Explains Castillo Change For Ox Debut

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has revealed why he opted to substitute goalscorer Edson Castillo for the debut of Sibongiseni Mthethwa.

Castillo, 29, has been a revelation for Chiefs since his off-season arrival and netted his fourth goal in just his 11th start in the heart of their midfield.

His industrious performance proved the catalyst for the comeback 2-1 win over Sekhkhune United as he netted the equaliser, but supporters question why he was hauled off.

Edmilson Dove eventually netted the winner and Ntseki revealed that he was looking to conserve the energy of the Venezuela international.

“I think if you look at the energy levels [the change] was key, also it’s not only being tired from the physical side, decision making was a bit of a challenge for us today,” Ntseki said.

“When you look at Yusuf and Castillo it’s only normal after he put in a big shift on Saturday and with us having Mthethwa on the bench was managing the situation.

“Us bringing him in was us saying now is the time for us to take the game to them, I think he did well in his first game, the few minutes he played, he showed quality. Everyone around him responded positively.”

Chiefs will now turn their attention to Cape Town City at FNB Stadium next Tuesday at 19h30.
