Nota Baloyi, 34, appeared in Randburg court after actress Itumeleng Bokaba accused him of rape.
He turned himself in on Friday, 4 October, and spent the weekend in jail. He was released on R5,000 bail on Monday.
As part of his bail conditions, Baloyi is prohibited from contacting the accuser.
“It was an emotional weekend for me from the moment my father brought me to Randburg police station. We knew I probably had to spend the weekend in jail,” Nota told TshisaLIVE.
“It was a nervous weekend. I didn’t want to end up going to Sun City for seven days or however long it would have taken.”
He said his family visited him almost every day.
“It was uncomfortable to have them visit me under such conditions, through a glass barrier,” he said.
“When I was standing in line, most of the 17 people who applied for bail didn’t get released. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be granted bail. That made it harder to hold back the tears.”
Baloyi is focused on proving his innocence.
The case will continue on 7 November for further investigation and discussions with the accuser.
