Nota claims credit for iShow Speed trending in South Africa for 3 days

South African music executive Nota Baloyi has sparked laughter online after claiming that he was responsible for American streamer iShowSpeed trending during his recent visit to Mzansi.

iShowSpeed, known for his energetic and unpredictable live streams, spent three days in South Africa, where he was hosted by local celebrities including Nota, DJ Sbu, Bontle Modiselle, and Robot Boii.

Videos from the visit circulated widely, with many viewers poking fun at how fanboyish the stars appeared, particularly noting moments where Nota was hilariously sidelined and even pushed away by the streamer’s bodyguards.

Despite this, Nota recently told a podcast audience that the hype around Speed was all thanks to him.

“The whole country is going crazy over Speed. I trended before him, so I made him trend. He trended because of me, I am the reason he trended,” he said, with laughter audible in the background.

The music executive went on to boast about his influence, claiming he could even arrange a private jet for Speed.

“I can get him a private jet that flies him everywhere, with black pilots,” Nota added.

He also suggested that Speed’s visit had overshadowed local streamers, particularly those who stream from home.

While many online viewers found Nota’s comments amusing, some criticised him for making the streamer’s success appear to be about himself.
