Controversial music producer Nota Baloyi has issued a public apology for referring to white people as inhumane.

Speaking on DJ Sbu’s podcast, The Hustler’s Corner, Baloyi labeled white people as Neanderthals, claiming they are inferior to black people.

“They are an inferior species compared to us. We’re Homo Sapiens; they have Neanderthal blood in them. This is science. It was not conducted by black people; it was done by them,” he stated in February.

SA Human Rights Commission ‘makes’ Nota Baloyi apologise

A week after his comments were made, The South African Human Rights Commission released a statement regarding the situation.

“The matter is under assessment, and the Commission will determine the best way forward, which may include instituting proceedings in the relevant Equality Court as per Section 13(3)(b) of the South African Human Rights Commission Act 40 of 2013, in conjunction with Section 20 of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act, 2000,” the statement read.

In his apology, Baloyi said: “I wish to extend my heartfelt apology to anyone who felt threatened or hurt by my words. I understand the importance of fostering a culture of respect, and I am committed to turning this incident into a learning experience for myself and for those who follow my content.

“I specifically wish to apologize to the white communities for my remarks. My words were hurtful and inappropriate, and I deeply regret the pain they may have caused,” he said in a video.
