Amor Vittone has acknowledged her union with her late husband, Joost van der Westhuizen, amid news of her new relationship trending on social media.

The TV actress and singer recently went public with Marius van Biljon, a radio DJ and businessman. Like Amor, Marius lost his spouse to an illness.

AMOR VITTONE ACKNOWLEDGES EX AMID NEW RELATIONSHIP

On her social media platforms, Amor Vittone has been inundated with well-wishes from her fans and followers after going public with her new partner, Marius van Biljon.

Many have claimed that the star “deserves” to find love after the loss of her husband, Joost van der Westhuizen, who died from motor-neurone disease in 2017.

Amor has liked many of the messages, including one that acknowledged her late husband.

It read: “No one will take the place of Joost. But you deserve happiness”.

She liked another that read: “Joost was a legend, so sad he died early. But life goes on.”

Meanwhile, on her partner Marius van Biljon’s TikTok account, he liked a comment from a follower that said of Amor: “She deserves happiness after everything she has been through. I hope her in-laws keep their mouths shut and are happy their grandchildren have a mother who deserves happiness”.

DRAMA WITH JOOST’S FAMILY

Amor Vittone married Joost van der Westhuizen in 2002. They had two children together: Jordan and Kylie.

At the time of his death from motor neurone disease in 2017, the couple were separated, and not divorced, despite widespread rumours.

What followed was a bitter, public dispute over his will.

The contents of Joost’s will were made public in the months following his death. According to his family lawyer, Ulrich Roux, the popular player reportedly updated his will in 2015, appointing his brother Pieter as his executor.

In the new will, he left his entire estate to his two children via his trust. To his wife of 15 years, he left a mere television set.

However, Amor maintains that the 2009 joint will, in which she was Joost’s only heir, was his only valid will.  According to IOL, Amor petitioned the Supreme Court for leave to appeal the court’s ruling on the will. In a 2018 social media statement, Amore revealed that she would “appeal to death.”

Fast forward to 2022, Amor confirmed that the dispute over the will was ongoing.

In an interview on Laataand by Rian in 2024, Amor recalled how Joost promised to always provide for her and her children. She claimed he wrote her a letter begging for her forgiveness.
