Professor Anthony Turton, from the Centre for Environmental Management at the University of Free State says there is no need to worry about the Shongweni Dam in KwaZulu-Natal.
There have been reports that the dam wall could collapse, flooding low-lying areas towards the coast, including Umlazi and Chatsworth.
However, Turton sees no reason for concern.
