No Enough Evidence For TUT Student Ntokozo Xaba Murder Trial

According to the state, investigations into the murder of third-year TUT student Ntokozo Xaba are still ongoing.

Ngcebo Thusi, the murdered third-year TUT student’s ex-boyfriend, appeared briefly in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Thursday.

Thusi is accused of murder and obstructing the ends of justice.

Xaba, 21, was discovered stabbed to death at Pretoria University’s Ekhaya Junction hostel.

Several family members were in court on Thursday and the public gallery was full.

Prosecutor Mashudu Nebulunge informed the court that investigations were still underway.

Previously, Thusi declined to file a bail application.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on February 1, Xaba and a group of friends held a party gathering at her residence in Pretoria Gardens.

“It is alleged that the accused was among the people who were at the social gathering. It is alleged that the accused was the last person to leave the deceased’s place at midnight or the early hours of the morning.

“The deceased’s lifeless body with multiple stab wounds was found in the morning by friends when they went to check on her,” said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.

The matter has been postponed to June 2, again for further investigations, in order to gain sufficient evidence.
