The move of Thamsanqa Gabuza from SuperSport United to Stellenbosch FC has seemingly fallen through.
Gabuza, 35, was heavily linked with a switch to the Winelands-based side but it seems he will not move to the Western Cape.
Steve Barker is understood to be looking to add more experience and fire power to his young squad and had earmarked a move for Gabuza.
However, after sounding very positive that the move could be completed this week, he confirmed after his side’s heroic 3-2 comeback-win in the Cape Derby that Gabuza’s move is off.
“No apparently, that doesn’t seem likely, unfortunately,” he said when asked by iDiski Times.
Gabuza, whose contract runs out in June is allowed to sign a pre-contract with any club of his choosing and it remains to be seen whether he’ll finish the campaign with Matsatsantsa or whether move will still materialise before January window slams shut on Tuesday.
