Actor Nkanyiso Mzimela recently took to social media to bid farewell to his Shaka iLembe character, following his death on the series.

Nkanyiso, who is well known for his character as Melusi Zungu on Isibaya, portrayed the character of Somveli Mthethwa on Shaka iLembe. Somveli was the son of Godongwana on the historical series.

He was killed after it was found that he betrayed the Mthethwa kingdom, and was buried in secret – while the rest of the family was told that he visited relatives in another village. One of Godongwana’s trusted soldiers then sat on the throne as a regent King for the Mthethwa clan.

Recently, Nkanyiso took to his Instagram page to say his final words to the character.

He shared that the reception for this character was beyond his expectations. He also extended his gratitude to the viewers.

“I’d like to thank you all for hating him, loving him, wishing he doesn’t succeed and still rooting for him at the same time. And to all those who’ve yearned for a father’s approval, I hope you got to live that through him, I love you all,” he penned.

Instagram users weighed in:

“Your delivery was awesome brother. Yoh! The intensity in your scenes could be felt,” said one user.

Another one added: “You killed this character, when we hate the character it’s credit to you. You nailed it. On to the next one brother, keep shining keep growing.”

“You played the character well. I genuinely wanted you to be caught – hated that you played the role well. Hating that character was loving your growth as an actor. Bravo,” expressed another netizen.

Industry names such as Mondli Makhoba and Desiree Markgraaff also weighed in.
