Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo’s management team has revealed his stance amidst his dilemma at the club.
Ngcobo has struggled to get game time in the last two seasons at Chiefs. He joined Amakhosi on the back of an impressive season where he was named Defender of the Season.
However, he is yet to establish himself at the Soweto giants, losing his place in the national team in the process.
NJABULO NGCOBO’S STANCE
His situation is likely to get worse with defenders Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango set to join the club.
The club announced that Ditlhokwe had signed a pre-contract in January, while they signed Msimango from TS Galaxy.
Ahead of the upcoming transfer window, Richards Bay and AmaZulu FC have linked Ngcobo.
However, his management team, Knowledge Sports Agency, have clarified his stance, saying there was nothing official on the Usuthu and Natal Rich Boyz links.
“There’s no latest on Njabulo [Ngcobo], he is left with one year, and his contract expires next year [June 2024]. He’s staying, and he will fight for his position.
“If he gets the chance, he’s willing to fight for his position. He hasn’t given us any instruction to look for a new club,” Knowledge Sports spokesperson Mpendulo Nyuswa told FARPost.
“He believes he wants to fight for his position.” However, Nyuswa said if any team comes forward with a proposal to take him on loan or sign him, they would engage Chiefs.
“We’re not saying that if an opportunity comes by, we will say no,” added Nyuswa.
The former AmaZulu and Swallows defender is not new to being sidelined.
“He’s been through that before. This is not the first time. He believes he wants to fight.”
