Entertainment industry veteran, Nimrod Nkosi, has been in the news lately, and he went on radio to give the fuller picture of the scandals in his life, as well as the stories that shaped him as a man.

In a conversation with Thando Thabethe on 947 Drive, he briefly addressed the recent voice note his friend leaked where Nkosi confided in him about his financial difficulties.

Nkosi said he is okay, stating ‘It’s like MC Hammer said, ‘My broke and yours are not the same’.

Nimrod Nkosi on how he fathers

Thabethe then pivoted to family matters, specifically fathers taking responsibility of their children, something Nkosi confronts on behalf of mothers and children on his show, Utatakho.

“I find this ironic, almost, you host this show Utatakho, where you hold men accountable to take care of their children. But in the same light you’ve also spoken openly about your experience growing up with your own father… you spoke about how he was abusive,” Thabethe said.

“Yeah, psychologically… and not being supportive. He didn’t support my dream to be an actor. And that the person you look up to as your dad to give you the stamp of approval,” said Nkosi.

“And how did it inform how you would become a father?” asked Thabethe.

“Be the opposite. Be available. Just listen,” responded Nkosi.

20 years on, Nkosi remembers the phantom pregnancy scandal

“You were so committed to being a father you thought you were expecting triplets. What happened?” asked Thabethe.

“Hey dude. You know when I look at it at the time I thought whatever I’ve done wrong, this is the way of world of God is saying… I’m gonna give you this to go through because maybe of all the nonsense that I’ve caused culminated to this.”

“… That was the first time I got to hear of phantom pregnancy. That a woman can wish so much to be pregnant that they exhibit the signs of pregnancy…” says Nkosi.

“How did we get to triplets?” asked Thabethe.

“So the scans, later we found out were stolen,” Nkosi said.

“So it’s not that her mind was playing tricks on her, she was also playing tricks on you?” asked Thabethe.

“Of course,” responded Nkosi.

But then the then 31-year-old Nkosi’s world was turned upside down when he got a call from his then 22-year-old significant other’s friend, saying that she had done the same to another celebrity at the time, resulting in an explosion in the media as the truth of the story came out.
