SuperSport United attacking midfielder Aubrey Ngoma praised his side’s defence under the new leadership of Andre Arendse after two games without conceding a goal.
Ngoma, who joined Matsatsantsa in January, believes Arendse has identified the problem at the club and was able to solve it for the last two games.
United are coming from two away games where they claimed a win 1-0 against Kaizer Chiefs and a 0-0 draw against Marumo Gallants, leading Ngoma to praise the club’s defence as well as the new coaches.
“I think what has gotten us the four points from the possible six, it’s been how we’ve been working on our defending,” he told SuperSport’s media department.
“The previous games before the last two games, we’ve been conceding a lot of goals. I think when Andre took over, he already identified what the problem has been.
“And I think also the fact that we under a new coach, but the players also want to prove themselves, you wanna work hard to stay in the team. So I must give credit to the defenders.
“They’ve really done well, because we’ve been conceding a lot of goals, coming back away from home and playing two games where we don’t concede, we have to give credit to the defenders and the goalkeeping department.
“So hopefully, we can continue with it. And in this 10-day break, I think we’ve worked a lot in our attacking play because now we have to switch the away mode into the home mode because we have two home games coming and we have to make sure that we make our home a fortress where no team comes in, dominates us, and scores goals against us.”

SuperSport enter the game in eighth place with 35 points, four less than six-placed Stellenbosch and knows it will be a tough encounter against Steve Barker’s in-form men.
“So that’s going to be very important for us going forward to finish the season on a high. We’ve been preparing well for Stellenbosch, we know they are a very good team,” he added.
“They have spirited players going forward and they play with a high tempo, so we have to be on top of our game. But I think the coaches have watched the clips and they’ve been preparing as well for the coming game.
“And I think the training is going well for us. We’ve taken in the coach’s instructions and the plans to execute against the numbers and hopefully, on the day we can pitch and just do what the coach demands of us, and we are capable of beating the numbers.”
SuperSport are set to face Stellenbosch at 17:00 at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Tuesday.
