New FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana has named the role models of his career after sealing his move to Europe from Kaizer Chiefs.
Ngezana, 25, teamed up with the Romanian giants this week after his R12-million move, meeting up in the Netherlands where they are currently doing pre-season.
He admitted that he was caught by ‘surprise’ by the interest but was happy about it and that Sheriff Tirapsol also made an early approach as previously reported by iDiski Times.
But when pressed by the media on who inspired him in his career as he arrives as one of their major signings on a five-year deal he mentioned his former Amakhosi teammate alongside Spain legend Sergio Ramos.
“There are a lot of players [I looked up to] but I will choose in my position, my all-time role model is Sergio Ramos, in South Africa it was Eric Mathoho, yes, Mulomowandau, I played alongside him at Kaizer Chiefs,” Ngezna said when meeting the media via FCSB TV.
He went on to add that his goal is to ‘put the team where it belongs’, citing the desire to win trophies which includes the league title.
Ngezana departed his boyhood club after seven years in the first-team where he made 123 appearances.
