Ngcobo Apologises To Chiefs Fans

Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo, who won the Man of the Match award against Richards Bay, has apologised to Amakhosi fans for his incident last season.

Ngcobo had an altercation with former goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter after his substitution in a game against Golden Arrows last season – and had already apologised for the incident at the time.

However, on Saturday, after receiving the Man of the Match award for his display against Richards Bay, Ngcobo addressed the incident once again.

“I’ve been through a lot,” he told Mpho Maboe on SuperSport TV after the match, as translated by iDiski Times.

“Firstly, I’d like to thank Kaizer Chiefs supporters for being patient with me through everything I’ve put them through, especially last season. I’d like to apologise for everything that happened.

“It wasn’t because I thought I was bigger than the team, it was merely because of the atmosphere of the game. I hope they will be able to forgive me.”

Ngcobo then also addressed Saturday’s game, which saw Chiefs collect three points despite playing with 10 men for over an hour following Yusuf Maart’s red card.

“About today’s game, I haven’t played in a long time. I think it’s because of how we worked together that we got the three points today,” he added.

“You could see that we were pushing, even when we were a man down.

“I think I’ve matured in my game, I’ve learned a lot, especially from coach Arthur, even though I still have a lot of work to do.

“But I think the way I’m playing will help the team a lot.”
