The Nedbank Cup’s last eight ties have been confirmed after the draw took place at SuperSport Studios in Randburg on Monday evening.

The only side that’s not competing in the DStv Premiership, Dondol Stars were drawn against Orlando Pirates while Kaizer Chiefs will lock horns with KZN side Royal AM.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Cape Town to square off with in-form Stellenbosch FC while Chippa United will host Sekhukhune United.

ROAD TO QUATERFINALS

Sundowns were the first team to grab the first spot in the last eight after they edged Marumo Gallants 3-1 last week at the Free State Stadium.

A few days later, stubborn Dondol Stars who have established themselves as giant killers in the Nedbank Cup, knocked out AmaZulu 5-4 in the penalty shootout after a 120-minute 1-1 draw.

Last Friday, Sekhukhune United overcame the second-tier side Cape Town Spurs with a 2-0 scoreline at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

On Saturday, the action continued with three fixtures taking place on the day.

Royal AM sealed a hard-fought 3-1 over Golden Arrows in a match that was wrapped up in extra time after a 90-minute 1-1 draw. With this win, Thwihli Thwahla made a hat–trick over Abafana Bes’thende this season after they had already beaten them twice in the DStv Premiership.

In a match that kicked off at the same time as the Royal AM-Arrows clash, Chippa United got the better of the ABC Motsepe side Mpheni Home Defenders with a 2-0 scoreline.

The last match of the day saw Orlando Pirates beating Venda Football Academy 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium. Thembinkosi Lorch scored the winner in extra time to help his side avoid penalties.

On Sunday, Stellenbosch recorded an impressive 6-3 victory over TS Galaxy in a thriller at the Mbombela Stadium. This was the first time ever that the Western Cape side scored six goals in a match.

Chiefs were the last team to secure their spot in the quarters after they downed Casric Stars 2-1 at the FNB Stadium on Sunday.
