Nedbank Cup Or CAFCL? Zwane Responds

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has insisted that he doesn’t prioritise trying to win the Nedbank Cup over finishing second in the DStv Premiership, instead he wants to be successful in both competitions.

Zwane, who is in his first season as head coach at Amakhosi, could still end the club’s over seven-and-a-half year trophy draught, should they be able to win the Ke Yona Cup.

After going past Maritzburg United and Casric Stars FC, Chiefs will face Royal AM away from home in the quarter-final, while there are also still competition for the CAF Champions League spot in the league.

Zwane, though, insisted he wants to do well in both and will not sacrifice one competition for the other.

“We don’t chose games. At Kaizer Chiefs, you play to win every game,” he told journalists.

“As much as we want to finish in position two, we still want to win the cup as well.

“That has been the culture of the club. The history of the club has always been about winning things, silverware more especially for our supporters and the club.

“So we take every game very, very serious. We’re not going to select games or say ‘this one is more important than the other’.

“All the games… the only thing that we’re going to do is to juggle the squad around if needs be, but the focus is to make sure that we finish as high as possible but also make sure that we go all the way to the final, win it.

“We want to win it all.”

Chiefs travel to Royal AM on Sunday, with the hosts still unbeaten at home since the return of head coach John Maduka.
