Nedbank Cup Make Huge Pitso Announcement

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and current Al Ahli Saudi coach Pitso Mosimane was unveiled as the latest ambassador for the Nedbank Cup during an event on Thursday morning.

Mosimane is currently back on home soil and visited the South African Football Association Technical Centre on Wednesday to give the current U23 side some words of advice.

‘Jingles’, who was just named Coach of the Month February by the Yelo league, was then presented on Thursday by Nedbank Cup as their latest ambassador, joining the likes of Teko Modise, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Daine Klate and Stanton Fredericks.

“I’m humbled, first by the ambassadors what they are speaking about,”

“I think we have true ambassadors who have travelled, who have been around the football space, but also who have done very well with their finances.

“Because I’ve been their coach, the only one I didn’t coach was Stigga – Stanton Fredericks, but all of them I’ve been their coach, I’ve spotted them, I’ve signed them and when I see where they are now, that’s more important.

“As I always say ‘you first coach the human being before the footballer’. They have done very well and some of the stories that they are telling here reminds me of the days when I was fighting with them about how to look after their finances.

“I remember fighting Daine Klate, saying ‘you’re not going to sleep in a car, you’ve got to buy the house first’.

“And I was proud of Teko when he went back to Soweto, I spoke to him and I said ‘that’s a very good thing, you need to fix the home, first your parents’ home before yours. He did that and I’m proud of them.

“We can talk about them playing football, but I also know them differently, outside of football.”

Mosimane himself has won the Nedbank thrice as a coach, his first in 2005 with SuperSport United before two more with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014/15 and 2019/20.
