Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has spoken for the first time since he was appointed as the assistant coach to the Spanish international Jose Riveiro.

Ncikazi, who was in charge of the team with Fadlu Davids in the previous campaign, spoke with Orlando Pirates media about their upcoming encounter against Royal AM.

The former Golden Arrows head coach was appointed as the assistant coach after the appointment of Jose Riveiro before the season starts.

The 53-year-old shared his thoughts about the upcoming tantalizing fixture against ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ saying that it is important for the team to bounce back after a 1-0 shock defeat against Chippa United on Sunday afternoon at Orlando Stadium.

‪“Bad loss previous match,” Ncikazi told Pirates’ media department.

“Good game without points. But it’s important when you go to Royal AM, to a very good team, but it’s important that we must start getting points.

“The win against Royal AM will very important. Maybe it’s important that we face opponents like Royal AM where our strength will be really tested.

“I’m sure our team is aware of the importance of the match, the points though it’s a good team I think we have the capacity to get the three points against them.”‬

The two sides will face each other twice in a space of 10 days, as they will also square off in the MTN8 quarterfinals.
