Ncikazi – Still Much To Play For

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has insisted the Buccaneers still have “much to play for” in Monday’s DStv Premiership encounter against SuperSport United.

The Sea Robbers threw their chances of finishing in second place and qualifying for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League when they conceded two late goals in their 2-2 draw with Royal AM on Friday.

As a consequence, the highest the Buccaneers can finish is third spot but they would need to beat SuperSport by five goals in order to better Thwihli Thwahla’s goal difference.

“There are so many could haves, should haves that one can mention,” Ncikazi said.

“If you take the last three games, we were looking like a very positive team. Maybe that should be done at the end of the season, where we will reflect on everything.

“We still have a game tomorrow, where we still have much to play for, looking at the possibilities that are still available to us.

“First, secondly let’s try and win it with a scoreline if it’s possible. It gives you a different perspective.

“But tomorrow let’s play the game, play to win and take the possibilities that are there.”

SuperSport themselves can still climb back into the top eight, should they beat Pirates on Monday. If not, it would be the first time since 1990/00 that they would miss out on a top eight finish.
