Ncikazi Disappointed With Bucs Draw

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi was disappointed after his side failed to beat Chippa United and picked up their 13th draw of the season.

The Buccaneers failed to convert several good chances and missed an opportunity to close in on second-placed Royal AM, who sit five points ahead on the log.

Ncikazi lamented his side’s wasteful display after the final whistle, and insisted Chippa only came for a draw.

“Highly disappointed, a match where we definitely should’ve won, two points dropped, valuable points that we needed,” he told SuperSport TV.

“When you miss chances like we missed, you won’t win matches. We were supposed to score today.

“But you can see the opponents played their game well. They were just here to play for a point, they got what they wanted, but we wanted the three points.

“We couldn’t score despite the dominance that we had, I think we threw everything but it didn’t happen today.”

Ncikazi also explained how difficult it is to attack against a five-man defence.

“It’s challenging [to unblock a five-man defence], you don’t have the spaces in the wide areas, they don’t give you the space between the goalkeeper and centre-backs,” he added.

“So now you have to creative in front of goal, get set plays. I think neither of them worked today and this is the result that we had.”

Pirates return to action on Monday when they will face TS Galaxy.
