The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has recalled all Benny Beef and Chicken-flavoured stock cubes due to concerns over inaccurate nutritional labelling.
The Commission was alerted by Tiger Brands, the country’s largest food supplier, that the declared sodium content on the packaging may not accurately reflect the actual levels in the product, which could be higher than stated.
According to the NCC, this mislabeling may affect consumers’ ability to make informed dietary choices, particularly those who are monitoring their sodium intake for health reasons.
The affected batches have been on shelves since 2023 and carry a best-before date of 31 July 2027.
Consumers are urged to return the products to their point of purchase for a full refund, with no proof of payment required.
