Nasty C explains why his brother manages him

In the fast-paced world of music, loyalty can be hard to find. For South African rapper Nasty C, that lesson came through experience. After dealing with industry disappointments, the award-winning artist decided to make a major change in his team. Instead of working with outsiders, he turned to someone he trusted most. His own brother.

The move, he says, was about more than business. It was about peace of mind.

Trust over contracts

Speaking about the decision, Nasty C explained that working with family gave him a sense of security he had struggled to find elsewhere. The rapper admitted that past experiences in the music industry left him feeling betrayed and cautious about who he allowed into his inner circle.

Choosing his brother as his manager was his way of protecting both his career and his personal well-being. According to the star, having someone who genuinely cares about his success makes a huge difference when navigating the pressures of fame and business.

For Nasty C, trust has become the most valuable currency.

A career built from the ground up

Fans often forget that Nasty C’s journey started long before the bright lights of global stages. Born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, the rapper first gained attention as a teenager after releasing early mixtapes that quickly spread across South Africa’s hip hop scene.

Songs like Juice Back helped launch him into national fame, and from there, his career expanded internationally. Over the years, he has collaborated with global artists, signed major deals, and become one of the most recognisable names in African rap.

But with success also came the realities of the entertainment business.

When business gets personal

The music industry can be complex, especially for young artists who rise to fame quickly. Managers, labels and industry partners often play a huge role in shaping an artist’s career. Yet those relationships do not always work out as planned.

Nasty C has openly shared that he experienced situations that left him feeling let down. While he did not focus on naming individuals, he made it clear that those moments influenced how he now handles his career.

Bringing his brother into the management role was his way of rebuilding control.

Fans respect the decision

On social media, many fans have supported the rapper’s choice. Some have said the move reflects a growing trend among artists who prefer to keep their business within trusted circles.

In South Africa, especially, where music culture is deeply rooted in family and community, the idea of building a team around loved ones resonates strongly with audiences.

For supporters of the rapper, the decision simply makes sense.

Loyalty first

At its core, Nasty C’s decision highlights a bigger conversation about trust in the entertainment world. For artists juggling creativity, money, and public attention, having the right people around them can make or break a career.

For Nasty C, that right person turned out to be someone who had always been there.

Sometimes the safest business move is keeping it in the family.
