Mzansi questions Nadia Nakai’s prank call to Zakes Bantwini

South African rapper Nadia Nakai has sparked a heated debate online after a prank call to Zakes Bantwini on her reality show Bragga rubbed many viewers the wrong way.

In the recent episode, Nadia decided to have some fun by prank-calling fellow celebrities, including Zakes Bantwini and Mihlali Ndamase.

While the moment was meant to be lighthearted, it didn’t sit well with many fans once the clip surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), shared by entertainment commentator Musa Khawula.

The video quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions. A number of users criticised Nadia for calling a married man, accusing her of overstepping boundaries and disrespecting Zakes’ wife, singer Nandi Madida.

One user wrote, “Why did it have to be Zakes Bantwini? Why is she that comfortable to call him? Nandi should be careful here because now we know Zakes answers a call from Nadia in 0.5 seconds.”

Another added, “Is Nandi a Xhosa hun? Because Nadia wouldn’t dare do that to a Xhosa wife’s husband, bekuzonuka umsunu right there and there.”

Some even went further, warning Nadia to stay away from the couple, with one post reading, “Difebe tse need to stay tf away from Zakes… they want to break Nandi’s home.”

Others also found the prank in poor taste, commenting, “Why Zakes Bantwini though? Why is she so comfy talking to Zakes? Not after that post that said, ‘I bet on this marriage’ now Bragga wants to be a weapon. Distasteful.”

However, a few fans came to Nadia’s defence, insisting that the call was harmless and had been blown out of proportion.

One supporter wrote, “You guys just had to make it awkward! Her calling Zakes does not mean anything!”
