Nabi tells Kaizer Chiefs faithful: ‘We’re not done yet’

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has indicated that there may be more signings to come soon.

Amakhosi welcomed new arrivals early this month, ahead of their pre-season tour to the Netherlands. In the five matches they played, the Soweto giants won just once, but Nabi is in no rush to add more to his squad.

On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs play Asante Kotoko in Durba, where fans will get a chance to see the new signings for the first time at home.

Nabi had admitted that there are a few positions to fill, but will look for the perfect time to bring in new players.

“There’s one or two positions that we might strengthen, but we are going to look for the best opportunity in terms of quality,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach told the media ahead of the Toyota Cup clash.

“We don’t want to fill the position just to fill it. We will wait as long as it takes to fill one or two positions for the next season. In addition, we have to give the opportunity this season to the young players who came from the DDC as well as the ones that were promoted last season because we feel that there’s a big potential.

Kaizer Chiefs made six signings

“But we want to do it step by step because we have learnt from a player like [Mduduzi] Shabalala. He was given a lot of responsibility and he carried a team on his shoulders last season especially the first part of the league.

“After that, at the end of the season, he kind of not collapsed but his performances were not good as expected. That’s why we want to give them responsibilities but at the same time without burning them. We want to do it step by step,” Nabi said.

Kaizer Chiefs brought in a few DDC players during their pre-season tour and one who stood out was striker Naledi Hlongwane.
