Nabi on a verge of joining African giants?

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach could be on the verge of joining a new team.

The 60-year-old has not been with the Amakhosi’s first team since the 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United in September and is unlikely to return. Reports suggest that the Tunisian tactician could return to his former team, Young Africans, where he won back-to-back league titles.

“His license is not expired as Chiefs said. He is in Tanzania. Anytime he could join either Young Africans or Al Ahly Tripoli Yanga,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“And two coaches are (candidates) on the verge to join them (Yanga). Yes, the team is not playing well despite only registering a single draw in their last five matches.”

Chiefs are yet to release another statement on Nabi

Last week, the Tunisian tactician was spotted in Cairo watching Pyramids FC against APR FC in the CAF Champions League second round preliminary qualifiers. He even took a photo with his former player Fiston Mayele of Pyramids.

Although Nabi is no longer with Chiefs, the club is yet to confirm the coach’s departure. In the meantime, Amakhosi’s interim co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have taken charge of the team.

Nabi was named Kaizer Chiefs head coach back in July 2024 after leaving Moroccan side AS FAR. A lot was expected from the man who won back-to-back league titles in Tanzania, but unfortunately for the club, the Glamour Boys did not improve much. The only silver lining was the Nedbank Cup triumph.

Where will Nabi go?
