Mpho Mvelase’s has shared his thoughts on Marumo Gallants’ 1-0 win over Baroka in the Nedbank Cup Limpopo derby quarter-final.

Gallants went through to the semi-finals after Sede Dion’s goal secured the victory at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Named Man of the match, Mvelase says Marumo Gallants relaxed a bit against Baroka FC but he was still pleased

Mvelase had a few chances himself in the 1-0 win and says the home side allowed Baroka to play early in the game, a danger he and his teammates worked on in training.

“I think we really made it difficult for ourselves from the onset whereby we allowed them space to play, we allowed them to come at us,” the midfielder told iDiski Times.

“We have been working on it during the week to say ‘gents, these people are fast, they are quick, so we must close them from the top.’ I think we did it the first 10 minutes after that we went back and we started playing. So overall we did well.

The former Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City man is also confident Bahlabane ba ntwa can go all the way to the finals and also fight to finish in a higher position in the league.

The 33-year-old however adds that the Limpopo side will take it one step at a time.

“It is very possible and I think with baby steps. I think our aim now is to be in the top 8, that’s what we are planning to do and I think we are heading there. I think baby steps will get us there,” he concluded.
