Musawenkosi “Musa” Khawula – the self-styled “Pope of Pop Culture” – has been arrested at the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court in the Western Cape after missing a court appearance for a civil case in Gauteng.
Khawula, who blogs on his X account, was arrested while attending the murder trial for the alleged killing of his boyfriend in March 2022, the Daily Sun reported.
The civil case results from damning allegations Khawula made against Nozuko Mbalula, the wife of ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, and her business partner Michelle Perrow in May.
Eric Ntabazalila, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, said: “The sheriff of the court said he has a warrant for his [Khawula’s] arrest for a civil case in Gauteng. He was then arrested in court (Vredenburg). His case was remanded to 7 August for judicial review.”
The report said Khawula has yet to get legal representation following his former lawyer’s withdrawal from the case.
The blogger has been in court for allegedly stabbing Wandile Khambule to death in Vredenburg on 4 March 2022.
