TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango has shared the secret behind his upturn in form, saying it was about ‘setting goals and not telling anyone.’
The centre-back has been among the standout players for Galaxy this DStv Premiership campaign.
Msimango delivered again, winning the latest man-of-the match accolade in the match against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The 25-year-old then revealed the reason behind his rise in form, which has attracted the interest of the Glamour Boys.
“Set goals you don’t tell anyone about. Achieve them. Then give yourself the highest of fives!,” he tweeted.
Msimango earlier quoted tennis star Serena Williams, saying: “Having the dream is easy, making it come true is hard.”
In a post-match interview on Wednesday, Msimango told SuperSport TV that he was working on positioning, which is a fundamental aspect of defending.
“It is part of defending. You have to position yourself properly in the box to be able not to allow a shooter a clear line of goal,” he said.
He acknowledged that he had an outstanding game against Chiefs but recognized that team-work also worked for them.
“The hardwork is from everyone not just me. I just did my job well and everyone came to the party. I did well in that aspect together with my team-mates,” he said.
“We put in a great shift, unfortunately, we could not keep a clean sheet which we wanted but we fought to the bitter end.”
Msimango was, nonetheless, unhappy that they did not get maximum points in the game against Chiefs.
“We managed to score two goals. We put in a very good effort on the pitch even though we conceded very early but we kept our guns,” he said.
Msimango was a stumbling block for Chiefs strikers, denying them numerous scoring opportunities especially in the second-half.
Little wonder, the match ended in a draw with the centre-back making crucial blocks and interceptions to deny Khama Billiat and company scoring opportunities.
Galaxy scored through Bernard Parker and Lifa Hlongwane whereas Chiefs crawled their way back through Keegan Dolly and Ashley Du Preez. The Soweto giants are big admirers of the Galaxy defender
