Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Secunda M Stars assistant coach Sabelo Mango has tendered his resignation ahead of the upcoming season.
The club cites that Mango asked to be relieved from his role “due to other commitments.”
This is after the side has brought in former Highlands Park assistant coach Victor Tshabalala to be the club’s head coach.
Tshabalala joins Secunda from Dondol Stars, who failed to secure a spot in the ABC Motsepe national playoffs after a 2-1 defeat to MM Platinum [La Masia] in the provincial playoffs. La Masia went on to win the national playoffs and gained promotion to the South African second-tier.
Last season, Secunda missed out on a Nedbank Cup spot after being eliminated in the finals of the tournament’s qualification by Sivutsa who managed to go to the Last 32.
The club finished top of stream A with 32 points but failed to cruise their way into the national playoffs after losing to Sabie Bayern.
Secunda has already begun with their pre-season camp and will be hoping to better their fortunes when the new campaign commences.
Given the new man in charge’s extensive experience of the beautiful game, he will be expected to help the side to achieve its ultimate goal of qualifying for the ABC League national playoffs and possibly getting promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.
Meanwhile, Secunda has thanked the departing assistant coach for his service and wished him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
