Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has stopped training with SuperSport United after one week with them.

The 32-year-old parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs a month ago after spending six years with the club. Rama arrived at Chiefs in 2016 from Mamelodi Sundowns after winning two league titles, one Telkom Knockout trophy and one CAF Champions League.

However, he couldn’t replicate his success at Naturena, coming close to the league title in 2020 and the CAF Champions League in 2021.

In the past few weeks, the former Swallows FC defender was understood to be training with SuperSport United at Sunning Hill as first reported by FarPost but there were no talks between the player and the club.

iDiski Times has now learned that the former Bafana Bafana centre-back has stopped training with Matsatsantsa and he’s not part of the team that is in Polokwane for pre-season.

United recently announced the appointment of Gavin Hunt and immediately confirmed two signings, namely Thulani Hlatshwayo ,who was a free agent after being released by Orlando Pirates, and Grant Margeman on loan from their Tshwane rivals Sundowns.

The three-time Premier Soccer League champions lost two of their best players in a space of five months – Teboho Mokoena, and Sipho Mbule both to Masandawana.
