Dondol Stars co-coach Khuliso Rashamuse made it clear that the winning the ABC Motsepe League remains their top priority, stating that victory against SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 is not of paramount importance.
Dondol currently sit top of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe table with 48 points, four points ahead of second-placed Jomo Cosmos.
Rashamuse’s charges are looking stronger this season and seemingly gelling better than they did the last term.
Dondol will take on Matsatsantsa at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, 8 February 2023.
The game is scheduled to start at 19:30.
Rashamuse revealed that his boys are highly-motivated to take on SuperSport, even though their main focus is on the league.
He further commented on the heavy workload his troops have to put in to achieve their ultimate goal of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“You will realise that when we went for the December break, we were leading the log with 10 points,” Rashamuse told the media.
“When we came back, things started falling apart.
“So, my other worry is that if we win this game [against SuperSport United], what’s going to happen next because now our main focus is on the league?
“We seriously need to be promoted. If we get promoted our lives changes.”
KHULISO RASHAMUSE ADMITS THE JOURNEY WON’T BE A WALK IN A PARK
The co-coach admitted that their quest to secure promotion to the South African football second-tier won’t be a walk in the park.
“It’s not going to be easy season for us. Our legend Jomo Sono is coming and knocking,” he added.
“He [Sono] will try to do anything possible. When I say anything possible, I mean anything football related.”
“When we played Dube Continental, he [Jomo Sono] was there watching our game. I went to greet him and we spoke.
