Polokwane City moved three points clear at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after four midweek games were played in the South African second tier.

On Wednesday Rise & Shine were 3-1 winners over Casric Stars, and this victory gave Duncan Lechesa’s team a chance to move ahead of their nearest rivals, Hungry Lions and AmaTuks.

Lions and Tuks cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw at the same time. Lions are three points behind Polokwane, while AmaTuks, the only unbeaten side remaining in the league, are four points off the top spot.

But there was a good win for JDR Stars, who moved up to fifth as they beat Venda Football Academy 2-0.

On Tuesday Uthongathi lost ground with the leaders as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Platinum City Rovers. They are now six points behind the log leaders.
