Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba scored his first goal in Ligue 1 for the season while Percy Tau returned to first-team action for Al Ahly.

Mothiba netted and won a penalty for RC Strasbourg in their 2-2 draw against Toulouse this weekend which marked his first goal involvement for the club since his serious injury knee back in December 2019.

Since his return from surgery, he went out on loan to domestic rivals Troyes in a bid to return to full fitness and he featured 13 times, scoring twice in the second half of last season.

The robust striker will now be looking to get back to his best form in the French top flight and return to the national team fold where he last featured under Molefi Ntseki three years ago.

Meanwhile, Tau made a late cameo for Ahly in their 1-0 win over Aswan to move into second place behind champions Zamalek, with both sides on six points from two games.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been assured of a place in the first-team under head coach Marcel Koller once he returns to his peak physical condition, despite the widespread rumours of a potential exit.

Kobamelo Kodisang (Moreirense), Lyle Foster (Westerlo), and Lebo Phiri (Paris FC) also earned starts for their respective sides this weekend with Kodisang and Foster helping their sides to 3-2 and 2-0 wins respectively while Phiri’s side drew 0-0 in the Ligue 2 outing against Laval.
