Mothiba Raring To Go Under Vieria Ahead Of New Ligue 1 Season

Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba has enjoyed impressive form in pre-season at RCS Strasbourg ahead of their Ligue 1 opener against Olympique Lyon on Sunday.

Mothiba looked set to leave the club in the off-season after becoming frustrated by his lack of regular first-team football after recovering from a long-term knee injury.

However, the appointment of France legend Patrick Vieira appears to have seen a turnaround in fortunes for the 27-year-old South African.

He’s netted goals against Bundesliga sides TSG Hoffenheim, Freiburg and Werder Bremen in their impressive pre-season games over the past month and looks firmly part of the club’s plans.

Mothiba enters the season alongside Senegal star Habib Diallo, and Kevin Gameiro as the senior options while Ivory Coast U23 forward Moïse Sahi Dion and Netherlands wonderkid Emanuel Emegha are set to challenge for places as one of the two strikers.

It promises to be a major season and opportunity for the former LOSC Lille star, who will be aiming to impress in the French top-flight and earn his way back into the national team reckoning under Hugo Broos – where he’s yet to earn a call-up since his appointment.
