There is a popular old saying that you can run, but you cannot hide.
This was proven on Thursday, 20 October, after Gauteng police arrested a murder suspect who had been wanted since 2020. The suspect was arrested at a roadblock at Columbine Road.
Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the arrest came after a suspicious vehicle, with a bullet hole on the side, was stopped.
“Detectives from the anti-gang unit were mobilized to conduct further investigations on both the occupants and car. They identified one of them as a suspect who was wanted for murders and allegedly terrorizing communities of Westbury and Eldorado Park,” Sello said in a statement.
She added that the suspect had a warrant of arrest issued against him, and is also linked to another case of murder in Sophiatown.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela has assured the public that cops would continue working hard to ensure that those who transgressed the law were arrested.
“The wheels of justice may seem to grind slowly, but surely perpetrators will be brought to book,” Mawela said.
