Mamelodi Sundowns utility man Thapelo Morena is confident his side will raise their game and ‘deliver’ against CR Belouizdad in their first-leg quarter-final this evening.
Sundowns face the Algerian Ligue 1 champions knowing the have fallen at this hurdle in three consecutive seasons.
Both teams come into the game on an indifferent run of form but Sundowns, are favourites to advance based on their displays overall this season.
But a massive challenge awaits in Algeris at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, something Morena acknowledged after his coach Rulani Mokwena stated earlier this week, they won’t be looking to play to the occasion.
“The most important thing for us, we know how important the game is and coming to Algeria against Belouizdad is going to be a very difficult encounter and we know that with their supporters it’s going to be hard to play our normal football,” Morena said.
“But I trust and believe in my teammates we’ll lift up our hands and deliver for our team. I think for us, the most important thing is the match, it doesn’t matter [if it’s home or away], but the result after the game is what holds the most importance.”
Sundowns face off against CRB this evening at 21h00.
