There have been a couple more technical team changes at AmaZulu after the exit of Brandon Truter while Siyabonga Nomvethe has taken up a new role.
Assistant coach Kamaal Sait and goalkeeper coach Johan Abselon, who arrived at the same time as Truter during the off-season have been relieved of their dutires.
Sait and Abselon were brought in by Truter to be his assistant team after the former Swallows coach was appointed at the beginning of the season on a permanent basis.
This after Truter was initially appointed as the caretaker in March following the departure of Benni McCarthy.
However, with Truter gone, Usuthu quickly appointed Roman Folz on Sunday, who was previously at Marumo Gallants.
Folz will work with Ayanda Dlamini as his assistant, as they were both appointed on Sunday by Usuthu management.
Siyabonga Nomvethe has now also been moved into a new role with the DStv Diski Challenge where he will serve as the assistant coach.
‘Bhele’ arrived at Usuthu to form part of the technical team in December 2020 following the appointment of McCarthy then. With McCarthy gone, Bhele stayed behind to work with Truter as the second assistant.
Ayanda Dlamini, who was Usuthu coach at the beginning of 2020/21 season, after he “voluntarily stepped down” in December in 2020, did not leave the club completely but he was deployed to work with Sboniso Vilakazi as co-coaches of the Diski team. It seems Bhele has been earmarked for the same position.
“We would like to thank coach, Kamaal Saait and Johan Abselon for their service to AmaZulu. All parties agreed to a mutual parting of ways in respect of the recent changes. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” President Sandile Zungu said in their official statement.
“With that said the changes mean that in the goalkeeping department we will be welcoming Musa Langa as goalkeeper coach in the interim, while the valuable services of Siyabonga Nomvethe will be retained under the reserve team.”
Folz’ first game in charge of Usuthu sees them travel to Orlando Stadium to face Orlando Pirates this Friday at 19h30.
