Molefi Ntseki: ‘We are looking forward to playing in the final’

Molefi Ntseki is clearly not a man lacking in confidence, as he has insinuated that Kaizer Chiefs will go all the way to the final of the MTN8.

Chiefs are set to do battle with Cape Town City FC this afternoon, Sunday, 13 August, at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town, with the MTN8 semi-final spot on the line. Kick-off is set for 15:00.

The Soweto giants have had a poor start to the new season as they followed up their goalless draw against Chippa United with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns, most recently in the DStv Premiership.

However, Ntseki said that his troops are fired up and looking forward to the game against CT City. “Winning is the only thing for us,” he said.

The objective for Chiefs is to win the MTN8 and end their long trophy drought, which has turned their fans into the laughingstock of SA football.

The Amakhosi coach also explained the importance of the MTN8 for the club as they last won a trophy in the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter.

MOLEFI NTSEKI ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MTN8

“The players and the technical team are ready and looking forward to having a good game against Cape Town City. We are looking forward to playing in the semi-finals and the final,” added Ntseki.

“Coming off a loss against Sundowns, we are fired up. We have seen the areas we need to improve on. We have done our analysis of our own team. And we are looking forward to giving a good performance against Cape Town City. A good performance will definitely give us good results.

“We would really appreciate winning this game and going into the next round. Our objective is to win this Cup. Winning this Cup will mean we have to dig very deep tactically, mentally and physically.

“I think we are up for it [CT City game]. It comes at the right time after we played such a solid team [Sundowns]. A team that has played together for years. And for us, in terms of our performance in the second half, we showed that we have the qualities to carry us on to the next level.”
