Molefi Ntseki: ‘I’m just worried about…’

Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has opened up on his biggest worry following an indifferent start at the club.

Ntseki was speaking on the sidelines of the Carling Knockout Cup earlier this week. Chiefs were drawn against AmaZulu in the new cup competition.

Despite bringing in nine new signings, Chiefs have been inconsistent this season.
Amakhosi are currently eighth, having won three of their nine games and lost four. Two of their games ended in draws.

They were also knocked out of the semifinal of the MTN8 by Mamelodi Sundowns.

MOLEFI NTSEKI SINGLES OUT BIGGEST WORRY

The Amakhosi mentor has singled out his biggest worry thus far.

“If you look at it, I think we’ve had too many new players come in,” he said. “Like I always say, team preparation is a process and a process that comes with pressure from within, especially when you look at those individual players.

“When you come from another team, coming to Kaizer Chiefs, the pressure is different. The demands are different. We’ve done very well as a club to get the players on the same page.

“I’m just worried about us not scoring, but in terms of the tactical cohesion, that is coming right with the club. I think we’ll turn the corner and start enjoying working at Kaizer Chiefs by winning games.”

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MISSING PART

Newly signed forwards Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzalez are yet to hit the target. Ntseki believes the most important thing is to work on their confidence.

“Scoring as a striker is important because it gives you confidence. It makes you feel good about yourself. It also wins games for the club, but I think goal-scoring is not only for the strikers. It’s for the whole team.

“We can score goals from set plays. We can score goals from open play with the midfielder or with a striker. The most important thing is to work on their confidence and understanding of where goals come from and how to finish the chances we’re creating.”

He warned his forward players that “time is ticking” for them “to convert the chances” Chiefs are creating.
