Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed the club’s first target in the CAF Champions League group stages after defeating Coton Sport away from home.

Sundowns are sitting at the top of Group B after claiming their second successive win after a brace by Cassius Mailula and another goal by Thapelo Morena.

Mokwena revealed that they want to get to 10 points as quick as possible to book their spot in the knockout stages of the competition, with two tough clashes against Al Ahly coming up.

“Tough to say, very difficult group I said to you guys, I say it again four very good teams in this group, very good teams,” he said after his side’s 3-1 win at Coton Sport.

“Sundowns being one of the very, very good teams in this group. We still have games to play. We have to host Coton Sport in Pretoria.

“So the focus is to get as close as possible to 10 points. We get ourselves mathematically into a position where we can think of ourselves in the quarter-finals.

“And then we set another objective for ourselves which is to finish first so we have to move four points more towards the target and we will do that by respecting everybody and doing the best as we can to continue to improve.”

The 2016 CAF Champions League winners will face record champions Al Ahly SC in six days time in a tough away fixture in Egypt.
