Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has admitted he made a “big mistake” in his side’s 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows in the MTN8 quarter-final.
Masandawana were playing with 11 vs 10 for nearly the entire match after former Sundowns players Andile Jali got sent off for a reckless challenge.
“I made a big mistake, which I told the players at half-time,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“After they got the red card, I put two or three players in the wrong position, it didn’t work a little bit and I want to thank my players for accepting my mistake.
“We corrected it a little bit better in the second half and we corrected it and did a lot better in the second half.”
When asked to explain more on the issue, says he got caught up in the moment after Jali’s red card.
“Immediately after that red I also got a little but caught up in the situation and when I tried to take advantage of the things, I committed a mistake,” he added.
“I committed this mistake last season already and I told them…
“I can’t [tell you]. But I’m only human. The players also accepted it and we corrected it and we looked a lot better, a lot better in the second half and I can only congratulate my players.”
