Mokwena Gives Update On Shalulile

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena gave an injury update on Namibian striker Peter Shalulile.

Shalulile left the pitch limping in their 4-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows a week ago, leaving many Downs supporters worried.

The DStv Premiership top goalscorer of the last two campaigns had already scored two goals this season and laid an assist but will now be sidelined with what looked like a hamstring issue.

Mokwena says Shalulile will be out for a few weeks, but insisted that the Namibian striker has a history of returning quicker than expected.

“Peter is [out] a couple more weeks,” Mokwena told journalists.

“It’s difficult to predict with Peter because he is a different breed. Peter is got a different mentality and his body reacts differently, so sometimes you think three, four weeks but then he comes back a bit faster.

“You saw it last season when he was supposedly to be out for almost the entire season and he actually came back a lot faster than we anticipated, so we have to go day by day with Peter.”
