Mokwena Empathises Ntseki Situation At Chiefs

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has shown support to Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki after an indifferent start to the 2023/24 season.

Chiefs have opened their league campaign with four defeats in nine games, while Sundowns have won eight from their opening eight.

Masandawana also eliminated Amakhosi from the MTN8 semi-finals and ahead of the final against Orlando Pirates this weekend, he shared his thoughts on the tough start to his tenure at the Soweto giants.

“It’s not my place. What I can say to you is of course there’s an empathetic sense because we have the same profession and I’m sure he will learn and grow from these situations,” Mokwena said about their indifferent start to the season.

“Today it’s him, tomorrow it’s a different coach, tomorrow it could even be me, that’s why you have to have some form of empathy and some feelings – but this is our profession and what we signed up for, it comes with this and that.

“It’s part of the package, some people say with eloquent English, that when you pray for the sun, prepare for the rain and when the rain comes, be prepared to deal with the mud. So that’s our profession, we pray to be head coaches of big clubs and when you’re a head coach of a big club, you need to be prepared to deal with very uncomfortable situations.

“I know, I’ve been there, I’m not talking out of lack of experience with that… with what he is going through, but God loves us all and I’m sure the sun will shine again for him – and he knows that he’s more experienced than me to be honest. He’s seen more situations than me, so for sure, I should be the last person to share any form of advice.”

Mokwena side face off against the Buccaneers on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium (18h00).
